ASHTANGA YOGA RETREAT ON HOUTSKAR ISLAND 2011
PETRI RAISANEN AND JUHA JAVANAINEN JULY 2nd - 23rd
in cooperation Astanga Yoga School and Houtskar Folk Highschool
GETTING THERE
Before getting to Houtskar you will first need to get to Finland. You can either fly to our capital Helsinki, or to the city of Turku.
Houtskar island is located in the sunny archipelago of Turku in South-Western Finland. It's distance from Turku is about 100km, and in order to reach the island, you will need to make three ferry passages. You can travel by your own car, by bus, by your own boat or by bicycle. There is plenty of beautiful scenery to watch while travelling.
The route to Houtskar travels through the small and idyllic counties of Parainen, Nauvo and Korppoo. Although the route is quite short, it will take about two hours from Turku because of the ferry passages.
It is thus wise to plan well beforehand and check the ferry timetables in case you are travelling by your own car. If you choose to come by public bus, check the bus schedule - there might be only one or two buses a day, and you may have to change the bus. It is advisable to arrive before or by dinnertime at 18:30 on Saturday.
